In order for people to be able to link the poster to the digipak a small photo of the front cover has been added along with some institutional information. We decided to place all that information on one neat strip along the bottom to make it stand out.
Initial digipak design - Draft ( To view final digipak click on 'older posts')
This is the first of four digipak Ideas i had for the band. I liked the idea of having a sea of Thornes, which links in with the band name; 'Jamie Thorn and the Mystery Pacific'. I also thought that this would be a great Idea for the folk genre of music due to the fact that alot of digipaks of this genre feature art in their Digipaks. I am now going on to design the inside of this digipak as well as play about with other ideas to see what will work best.

Final Poster for 'Jamie Thorn and the Mystery Pacific'
From audience research 99% of people had said the band blend in too much due to the photoshop effects. As a result it had been changed so that only the background has been edited. This now allows for the band to become the more prominent section of the poster. Although having the band as the main feature goes against convention, it is necessary in order to establish them in the initial stages of becoming more public.
Designing of the poster - Alteration note
Coming towards the end of the designing of the process the title and ship had been added to bring it all together. By keeping it simple (Name and band image) it makes more of a statement than the original drafts because it says this is who we are and this is our music. Although quite different to other posters within the genre such as Laura Marling's and Foo Fighters which would normally contain information about release or tour dates, we have decided not to add this information because we want it to get the audience associate with them and create a visual and mental link.
Designing of the Poster - Alteration Note
Katy had experimented with different effects such as a blue tint and cartoon feel which works much better than the tint due to the fact that the blue tint washes out the image a little bit and drains it of energy. By changing the contrast levels and hue saturation it is now far more likely to catch the target audiences eye and the hints of yellow add subtle unification with the font used on the digipak title.
Designing of the Poster - Alteration Note
We decided to use this image of the band out of the two that were used on the initial mood-board/poster due to the fact that it works well with the effects used in photoshop We have only added effects to the background rather than the band too because it allows for them to be more prominent on this 2d product and give a 3d element.
Although using the band members as the main focus is not a common convention of this genre, we found that it is more suitable for our band as they are still yet to be well established.
For the first draft of the poster the same pattern was used as that in the digipack to create the appearance of a sea of thorns. The initial poster was used as a sort of mood-board in order to find out what would and wouldn't work. Although we thought that having the sea of thorns as the background would look great it is a bit of an eyesore and ineffective. We thought it would be better to have a more prominent unification device such as the artwork instead of the digipak and poster having little commonality like most within the genre.
Designing of Poster - Alteration Note
Having looked through the collection of images we had taken of the band we decided that this one would be best due to the fact that although it goes against the convention of focusing on the music - the band are still to become more established. The neutral colours work well and the image is also featured in the digipak to create unification.

Construction Process - Photo evidence
Using the monopod to get a better shot. Also because it is easier to move when panning.
Fine tuning the guitar and preparing for a different shot, in terms of discussing posture and facial expressions etc.
Construction Process - Photo evidence
This is one of the many photos taken during the second photo shoot of the band and the process. We played around with a few different positions and shots to add to the video.
